Chatur Yuga (Maha Yuga)
चतुर्युग / महायुगOne full cycle of the four ages in the ratio 4:3:2:1 — Satya, Treta, Dvapara, Kali.
The great fourfold age. Dharma, a bull standing on four legs in Satya, loses a leg with each age — until in Kali it stands on one. The descent and its turning is the rhythm of every mahāyuga.
A single mahāyuga (4.32 million years) is longer than the entire existence of the genus Homo — and a manvantara holds seventy-one of them.
